Sparkasse Cup 2025: Drama and triumph in indoor football!
The Sparkassencup, the unofficial indoor football championship of the Altlandkreis Schrobenhausen, was once again very well received this year. On January 6, 2025, BSV Berg im Gau defended its title and showed strong performances. A total of 15 teams took part in the tournament, which was held in three groups of five.
TSV Hohenwart, who reached third place, remained unbeaten in the regular seasons, but suffered a defeat on nine meters in the semi-final against FC Gerolsbach. Coach Florian Flicker emphasized that fun and freedom from injuries were a priority for the team, but at the same time expressed dissatisfaction with the tournament format and would like changes for the next edition in 2026.
Tournament history and results
BSV Berg im Gau had a tight phase in the preliminary round and lost in an exciting game against TSV Hohenwart. The performance of the DJK Sandizell also played a decisive role, acting quickly against SC Mühlried and thus giving Berg im Gau support. On the other hand, SV Waidhofen mastered the preliminary round with ease and qualified for the semi-finals, while Lukas Preschl was named the best player of the tournament. In the final, FC Gerolsbach was able to win second place. Coach Korbinian Reiner was proud of his team, but also disappointed with the result.
Tournament organizer Harry Reisner reported on a successful competition, whose new mode caused some dissatisfaction, but was still rated positively overall. The next competitions are planned for 2026.
