Fire in Floridsdorf Clinic: Patient injured when attempting to smoke!
A fire broke out in the Floridsdorf clinic shortly before midnight yesterday, caused by a patient who was being supplied with oxygen and wanted to smoke. The fire started in a patient's room, but was quickly extinguished thanks to an immediately responding sprinkler system. The alerted security forces and clinical staff intervened immediately. The patient, who suffered burns to the face and neck area, is currently receiving stable but intensive medical treatment at the same clinic wien.gv.at reported.
Quick response from the clinic
Due to potential smoke inhalation, two security staff and four clinical staff were examined and treated. Thanks to the quick measures, all 30 patients in the affected ward were safely transferred to other wards within the clinic. A comprehensive damage assessment is scheduled for today in order to plan the restoration of the affected patient room, according to the clinic itself on its website kliniken-floridsdorf.gesundheitsverbund.at.
