In a dramatic turning point for the Tesla community, U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi has filed charges against three men believed to be responsible for a series of arson attacks on Tesla car dealerships and charging stations. These alleged perpetrators are suspected of carrying out their attacks using Molotov cocktails and could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted. Bondi stressed: "The days when you can commit crimes without consequences are over. Anyone who participates in this wave of domestic terrorism will be put behind bars by the Department of Justice." The charges were announced amid growing aggressive protests against Tesla and Elon Musk. President Trump has described the attacks as acts of domestic terrorism. The allegations against the men are serious: A suspect from Oregon is said to have thrown several Molotov cocktails at a car dealership along with a weapon. Two other men from Colorado and South Carolina are accused of also attacking Tesla sites and writing hurtful messages against the president in connection with the arson attacks. Increasing violence and its consequences
The incidents have not only led to an increased security situation, but also to the decision to ban Tesla from the Vancouver International Auto Show. Director Eric Nicholl explained that Tesla would not participate for safety reasons after the company was previously offered several opportunities to opt out voluntarily. Amid this turbulent situation, Tesla is struggling with a nearly 40 percent drop in share price, further fueling the tense situation. Musk himself has publicly expressed his horror at the brutal attack and stepped up the company's security measures while denouncing the attackers: "Has there ever been such a coordinated attack on a peaceful company?"
