Christmas market in Cologne: Police clear it again after finding a suitcase!

Another incident shocked the Cologne Christmas market! On December 16th, the “Heinzeln’s Winter Fairy Tale” event at the Heumarkt was evacuated due to an abandoned suitcase. The police reacted immediately, cordoned off the area and asked residents to stay away from the danger zone. How World reported, a team of defusers from the State Criminal Police Office arrived to clarify the situation.

The all-clear came around 10 p.m.: There was only sand in the suitcase, which the police confirmed and thus ruled out the danger. This was the second incident within a short period of time, as another market on Rudolfplatz had to be evacuated on Saturday after a similar suitcase was discovered. This one also turned out to be harmless, as it were South Germans reported. These repeated incidents cause anxiety, but fortunately there are no other safety concerns.
