New Year's Eve in Vienna: Quiet celebrations despite large crowds!
On New Year's Eve, large numbers of people flocked to Vienna's New Year's Eve Trail, where at around 11:40 p.m. all entrances were closed due to overcrowding. The event, which offered an impressive 100 hours of program on the eight stages along the city, was organized by City of Vienna Marketing and went off without any notable incidents, as ORF reported. Police also confirmed that the celebrations were quiet, although high security measures were in place. This included, among other things, the closure of the Stephansplatz subway station due to the large number of visitors.
High security precautions
Around 40 security barriers were activated within the city center to control crowds. Mayor Michael Ludwig visited the operations and security center in the afternoon and praised the emergency services. According to the Interior Ministry, the risk situation remained high, but there were no specific warnings. Special forces were visibly deployed, while new technologies such as drones were used to monitor the situation. Ein Highlight des Abends war die von Ankathie Koi und Max Mutzke dargebotene Neuinterpretation des Dramaticks „Donauwalzer“ zu Ehren des Johann-Strauß-Jahres.
The stage technology and entertainment, which made a significant contribution to the attractiveness of the New Year's Eve trail, were organized by experienced companies that are known not only for the high-quality equipment, but also for the smooth management of the lighting, video and sound technology. According to 24sound, their service includes offering tailored solutions for various events, from stage construction to professional DJ equipment. This ensured that the guests had an impressive experience and that preparations could already begin for the next big events in Vienna.
