On Monday morning around 7:30 a.m. there was a serious traffic accident in the Mannheim district of Neuostheim, in which a ten-year-old passenger in a VW was slightly injured. According to the police, a 38-year-old VW driver was turning from Grünewaldstrasse onto the busy Seckenheimer Landstrasse when he gave way to a 24-year-old Smart driver. This led to a violent collision in which both vehicles suffered significant damage. The VW spun and crashed into two parked cars, while the Smart was also forced off the road and collided with a third parked vehicle RNZ reported.
The total damage is estimated at around 80,000 euros and led to the temporary closure of Seckenheimer Landstrasse in both directions, which made a local diversion necessary. Eyewitnesses reported a veritable field of debris as the vehicles flew around after the collision. Despite the extent of the accident, there was initially no information about other injured people. A police spokesman only confirmed that the 10-year-old passenger was slightly injured and was taken to hospital for precautionary measures.
