On Friday, January 12, 2025, there was an incident in a supermarket in Rheinfelden, in the Lörrach district, in which a teenager sprayed pepper spray. The incident occurred after the group of young people had previously been expelled from the market. As a result of the use of the irritant gas, several employees and customers suffered respiratory irritation, which was, however, classified as minor.

A teenager had sprayed irritants there with an animal repellent spray. Here, too, several employees and customers reported respiratory irritation. After the incident, the group initially left on foot. The alerted police forces were able to find some of the young people in the pedestrian zone and the main perpetrator was identified.
