Youth gangs in Vienna: Burglary and pyrotechnics - the night of the horror girls!
On the night of Monday, December 24, 2024, there was a suspected theft in a CBD store on Praterstrasse, Vienna-Leopoldstadt. A group of five teenagers violently broke into the store but were caught red-handed by police. The young people, all between 13 and 15 years old, fled when they saw the officers. During their pursuit, a police officer fired a blank shot, which largely led to the arrest of three 15-year-olds and a 13-year-old, while another escapee escaped. During a search, the officers confiscated stolen goods, drugs and a balaclava from those arrested. Some of the suspects were sent to a correctional facility, while the younger one was released under the supervision of his parents, like ORF reported.
Vandalism in the northern edge settlement
Also in Vienna, a gang of children and young people caused a stir the night before. In the northern outskirts of the settlement, a cigarette machine and a mailbox were blown up with pyrotechnics. This incident occurred at 3:30 a.m. and resulted in significant damage to the machine. Residents who were woken up by the noise immediately alerted the police. The officers who were called were able to identify two Austrian and one Serbian children aged 12 and 13 as suspects. They were then handed over to their legal guardians, while the police seized several cigarette sticks that had been found by a witness. Reports were filed on suspicion of burglary, such as Austria reported.
