Dramatic street fights in Vienna: Rival groups in action!

In recent days, worrying incidents have occurred in Vienna, resulting in violent clashes between rival groups of men. On Sunday evening there was another serious fight at Meidling train station, in which several men were injured. According to information from Kurier.at Three men were injured by stab wounds and another by a head injury. These incidents are linked to previous fighting between groups apparently originating from Chechnya, Syria and Afghanistan.

Police reported increased deployment and even deployed a helicopter after eyewitnesses observed masked and armed people at the station. The perpetrators, who came to the meeting with knives, sticks and other weapons, fled in unknown directions after the attacks. The four injured people are currently considered victims by the police, although there is still no clear information about the motives for the clashes, but the police are investigating possible acts of revenge between the groups, such as Ooe.orf.at reported.

Investigations and arrests

The investigation has been intensified by the recent outbreaks of violence. Similar incidents have occurred in the past, including an incident in Anton Kummerer Park in which two young men were slightly injured by gunfire. The police carry out extensive interviews and analysis of traces in order to clarify the background to the conflicts. Investigators have made a step forward, particularly with the arrest of a 29-year-old Chechen on Saturday who is suspected of being involved in the incident.

While the security situation remains critical, police have increased their presence in known hotspots to maintain public order. The incidents highlight the challenges in containing violence caused by conflicts between different groups in Vienna.
