Protest against AfD: Rottweil ready for the next demo hit!
Things are boiling in Rottweil! The AfD announced a large election campaign event in the town hall on December 17th, at which party leader Alice Weidel is also expected. The party wants to raise its political issues under the title “Germany’s way back to the top – electricity madness exposed”. But the anticipation of the event is met with strong resistance from the population. The “Rottweil remains colorful” alliance is already mobilizing for a protest rally and is calling for a clear signal against the AfD on the social platform. At an earlier rally in April, hundreds of people gathered to demonstrate for democracy and diversity Black Forest messenger reported.
Protests against AfD event
There has already been an intensive exchange between the AfD and its opponents in Rottweil in the past. At a recent protest rally that arose in direct connection with an AfD event, the “Bunte Bündnis”, a gathering of 20 groups, called for a gathering. According to initial estimates, between 1,000 and 1,200 people were present to demonstrate against the AfD and its policies, especially against the controversial Björn Höcke, while the police spoke of around 500 participants, as the SWR reported. Despite the different estimates, the situation remained tense but peaceful.
During the AfD event, which focused on important issues such as energy and industrial policy, there was an incident during a speech when a demonstrator protested loudly but was quickly removed by security forces. The evening went without any major disruptions for the police, supported by a strong presence of officers and a security concept that was intended to ensure the smooth running of both the event and the protests.
