Meyer leads Berlin's FDP in decisive federal election campaign!

The Berlin FDP has again elected its state party leader Christoph Meyer as the top candidate for the upcoming federal election on February 23rd. At a state election meeting, Meyer received an overwhelming 73 percent of the delegates' votes and will therefore lead the Liberals in the election campaign. The other places are followed by Daniela Kluckert with almost 66 percent and the direct candidate Henning Krumrey from Steglitz-Zehlendorf with more than 84 percent Tagesschau reported.

Meyer emphasized the urgency of an economic upheaval in Germany and spoke out in favor of a comprehensive “startup package” to counteract the downward economic spiral. In its election campaign, the FDP particularly wants to score points with its economic expertise, while highlighting the weaknesses of its previous traffic light partners, such as the SPD and the Greens, as well as the CDU. The situation is tense for the FDP, as the party is currently often below the crucial five percent hurdle in the polls. However, within the party it is assumed that a maximum of two seats in the Bundestag are possible if the party is successful nationwide Daily Mirror.

This election takes place against the background that the federal election in Berlin was partially repeated and the AfD continues to gain support. The coming weeks will show whether the FDP can achieve its goals in the election campaign and whether it will be considered as a coalition partner for the Union, as Kluckert has already made clear.
