The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) is in turmoil due to an explosive article in the ORF report, which was sharply criticized by FPÖ media spokesman Christian Hafenecker. He describes the current issue as a “peak of manipulation and opinion-making” and accuses the ORF of blaming the party for Covid infections and deaths by portraying the FPÖ’s criticism of the “corona coercive regime” and vaccination propaganda as dangerous. Hafenecker demands an immediate explanation from ORF General Director Weißmann and renews the demand for the abolition of the ORF budget levy OE24 reported.
As part of the current government negotiations between the FPÖ and ÖVP, massive changes in the financing of public broadcasting are being discussed. Hafenecker presents the Freedom Party's strategy of financing the ORF from the tax system instead of the previous budget levy.
