30 years of zoom children's museum: art and play for the whole family in Vienna

The Zoom Children's Museum in the Museumsquartier Vienna is celebrating a remarkable anniversary this year: 30 years full of creative experiences for children. With the new interaction exhibition "Kunst & Game", not only the joy of playing is celebrated, but also the curiosity that awakens art and culture among the youngest. "This exhibition gets ten out of ten points from us!" is the tenor of Vincent, Ferdinand and Ram, student of the Pfeilgasse elementary school, who were one of the first to explore the exhibition.

The opening recently took place in a festive framework. In the first room, the children have already organized their own little races with the innovative roller boats, which belong to the main piece of the show - the impressive "kinsel". This children's island, creates by the artist Alfredo Barsuglias, fascinated by their walk -in sculptures, the children invite you to discover and help shape. The "scratch cave" with its cave paintings also gives an exciting insight into art history.

At the opening, some top-class guests were also present, including cultural councilor Veronica Kaup-Hasler and Vice Mayor Christoph Return, who also enjoyed the boats. Kaup-Hasler described the exhibition as a "imaginative experience room", which also encourages adults to get involved in a playful way. "The Zoom Children's Museum is really a ray of hope in our city in relation to children's culture," she added enthusiastically.

Director Andrea Zsutty was also pleased with the positive reception of the exhibition: "It is incredibly beautiful because the exhibition 'Art & Play' shows exactly what defines us for 30 years." She expresses the desire to expand the initiative to even more locations in Vienna to inspire even more children for art and culture.

interactive experiences and new programs

Another highlight of the exhibition is the secret mirror cabinet that the children discovered. Here you can perceive yourself and your movements from different perspectives. Markus Reiter, district leader of the 7th district, emphasizes the interactive character of the exhibition and adds: "Experimenting with your own body in the mirror room is a lot of fun."

In addition to the main exhibition, new programs were also presented, including the "Säfisch and Turtel screw" studio program, where young craftsmen are allowed to work with real tools. "Here it is hammered, sawn and drilled," explains Zsutty, "which not only trains the fine motor skills, but also strengthens the self -confidence of the children."

In addition, the topic of video games is taken up in the cartoon studio. The children have the opportunity to deal with video games, develop characters and live out their creativity. Zsutty is sure that this program will quickly gain popularity.

Another important step for the future of the Zoom Children's Museum is the opening of a second location in Floridsdorf, which is due to be built in 2027 in cooperation with the children's literary center. District head Georg Papai emphasizes the desire for an equally inspiring space for children to experience creativity and art as they can now do in the museum district.

The opening ceremony was simply fun, and the students from the Pfeilgasse elementary school brought their many new ideas and impressions to school. "We can't wait to come back!"
