In Vienna Neubau there will be a special setting for Christmas visitors on Advent Saturdays in 2024. The Neubaugasse is transformed into an inviting pedestrian zone. On the days between Mariahilfer Straße and Westbahnstraße, cars are not allowed to drive so that people can stroll undisturbed and enjoy the festive atmosphere. The streets will be closed to traffic from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
District head Markus Reiter underlines the importance of this regulation: "The numerous wonderful family businesses here in the new building offer a unique shopping experience. The car-free Neubaugasse makes the 7th district the most beautiful backdrop for Advent." This change is intended not only to give priority to the beautiful shop windows, but also to create a safe and calm environment for all visitors. In order to enable a similar regulation to that of the pedestrian zone in 2025, co-financing by the city, the district and the Chamber of Commerce is being sought so that businesses can continue to benefit in the future.
