Meidling becomes greener: over 60 ideas for a more livable Grätzl

In Meidling, an interactive project called Klimat team has been launched, which should encourage citizens to embellish their surroundings and make them more environmentally friendly. Within just one week, more than 60 ideas were already included in the aim of making the district more attractive and greener.

Participation in the climatic team is open to all Meidlingers who want to contribute with suggestions. Everyone can help how their own district can be made more livable. Those ideas submitted by the citizens are adapted to reality in cooperation with experts. District chief Wilfried Zankl from the SPÖ was pleased with the lively interest of the Meidlinger: "The implementation is finally developed together with experts, which enables great exchange."

creative suggestions for a better avoiding

One of the first suggestions came from a resident of Aichholzgasse who pointed out the speed overruns in the Grätzl. He suggests changing the road to a one -way street in order not only to reduce the speed, but also to create space for planting new trees. These could ensure a pleasant cooling in the summer, which is urgently needed in the city.

Another interesting contribution comes from Rene, who dreams of a promenade between Hufelandgasse and Schönbrunn Castle. According to him, the schanigents could be moved to the road to offer the pedestrians more space and reduce traffic in this way.

water features in the pedestrian zone are the heart of the idea of Gregor, while Rüdiger Rücker speaks out for a fountain at the Meidlinger Markt to increase the attractiveness of the area. He points out that there was already a water point in the past that was very valued at the time.

LISA brought the proposal to plant a tree avenue along Breitenfurter Strasse. This could extend over a section of six kilometers and lead from train station to the Liesing S-Bahn station. She argues that this not only improve air quality, but also the example of Schönbrunner Allee, where positive changes were also observed.

In order to join in and to submit their own ideas, interested citizens can attend the platform . Here the exchange and the joint development of proposals is expressly desired in order to work together on a greener and livable future.

The climatic team not only promotes a dialogue between the citizens, but also actively contributes to improving the cityscape. While the number of ideas submitted increases quickly, it remains to be seen which suggestions are ultimately implemented.
