New patch for Baldur’s Gate 3: subclasses, cross-play and photo mode!

Larian Studios has announced that their popular role -playing game Baldur’s Gate 3 will receive a comprehensive patch with exciting new features. The publication is planned for the beginning of next year, but players can already register for a stress test that will take place in January 2025. This test serves to put the new functions through its paces and to ensure their smooth introduction.

Since the publication of Baldur’s Gate 3 in August of last year, the game has exceeded the expectations of fans. Despite the waiver of additional downloadable content, Larian Studios has continuous updates that offer a variety of improvements.

Patch 8 brings new subclasses that introduce a number of fresh skills, animations and effects for all character classes. Added subclasses include:

• Bard - College of Glamor
• Barbarian - Path of Giants
• cleric - death domain
• Druid - Circle of Stars
• Paladin - Oath of the Crown
• Fighter - Arcane Archer
• Monk - drunken master
• Ranger - Swarmkeeper
• rogue - Swashbuckler
• Sorcerer - Shadow Magic
• Warlock - Hexblade
• wizard - bladesinging

Another exciting feature of the patch is the cross play. Players can play together regardless of their platform - be it Xbox, PlayStation, PC or Mac. The progress of their characters is stored across platforms, which enables a slim and seamless transition between the devices.

The new photo mode

In addition, a photo mode is introduced, which enables users to create wonderful screenshots of their adventures. This mode contains a camera with which the aperture can be set, as well as post-processing options. Players can add frame, letterboxes and up to 300 stickers to their pictures, which can be individually adapted to the scene, whereby a maximum of 30 stickers per image can be used.

The stress test will offer an opportunity for the community to try out the new features of hands-on before they are released for all players. Interested parties can register on the Larian Studios website and express their wish to test the new subclasses and features in advance.
