Wagramer Straße: A green adventure for Vienna with 100 new trees

Wagramer Straße in Vienna is about to undergo an exciting transformation that will significantly improve both the cityscape and the cycling infrastructure. As part of the “Green instead of Gray” project, the city government plans to make this important transport section more environmentally friendly. 100 new trees will be planted and an area of 8,000 square meters will be greened to create a greener and more inviting atmosphere.

A central component of these redesign measures is the construction of a new two-way cycle path. This cycle path will complete the final section of the planned seven kilometer long “mega cycle highway”. The city wants to offer safer and more attractive options for cyclists while at the same time focusing on sustainable mobility.

Continuation of the renovation work

A small part of the project is already visible: a 100 meter long section between Am Langen Felde and Donaufelder Straße has been successfully completed. The entire renovation should be completed by summer next year, with the aim of enabling a continuous cycle connection from Urania via Praterstrasse to Kagraner Platz.

Particularly noteworthy is the planned “street park”, which will extend over a length of 250 meters between Steigenteschgasse and Wintzingerodestraße. 55 new trees and generous green spaces are planned here. “This brings a real park feeling to the city,” explains planning councilor Ulli Sima, which underlines the importance of this project.

Overall, with these measures the city aims to increase the quality of life in Vienna while at the same time creating more environmentally friendly solutions. Wagramer Straße will not only be improved in terms of traffic, but will also be transformed into a green oasis that will benefit the city's residents and visitors.
