In Austria there are a large number of wealthy personalities who will find themselves in the list of the country's richest citizens in 2025. The total assets of the 100 richest Austrians amount to an impressive 205 billion euros, as vol.at reports. Among these super-rich are nine prominent billionaires from Vorarlberg, whose combined assets are between 16.65 and 16.05 billion euros.
The list is headed by Reinold Geiger from Dornbirn, whose assets amount to 4.4 billion euros. He is in 7th place in Austria, like last year. In second place is the Lehner family, whose company, the ALPLA Group, has assets of 4 billion euros and is therefore in 8th place. Closely followed by Franz Rauch and his family, whose Rauch fruit juices are in third place in Vorarlberg and 18th in Austria, with a fortune of 2.5 billion euros.

The ranking of the wealthiest people in Vorarlberg is supplemented by the Blum family from Julius Blum GmbH, which is ranked 4th in Vorarlberg and 19th in Austria with assets of 2.4 billion euros. Michael Doppelmayr and his family are in 5th place in Vorarlberg and 49th in Austria with 1 billion euros. In total, there are four Vorarlberg families in the top 100 that do not exceed one billion.
The Senger-Weiss family of Gebrüder Weiss has a fortune of 950 million euros and ranks 53rd in Austria and 7th in Vorarlberg. The Rhomberg family, which owns between 400 and 600 million euros, ranks 84th in Austria and 8th in Vorarlberg. The Loacker family and Jürg Zumtobel are in 92nd and 100th place in Austria with assets of between 200 and 400 million euros.
Other prominent billionaires in Austria
Austria also has numerous well-known rich families who are active internationally. These include the Glock family, famous for their pistol production, and the Swarovski family, known for their glass and crystal jewelry. Mark Mateschitz, who owns 49% of Red Bull GmbH, is at the top with a fortune of 35.8 billion euros and is ranked 31st in the Forbes World's Billionaires List 2024. The Porsche and Piëch families are also significant players, as they have stakes in Porsche and VW, as Vermögen Magazin reports.
These billionaires' involvement ranges from innovative companies like Varta, which produces batteries for Apple, to gambling and real estate, providing a broad insight into the country's economic landscape. What's also notable is that many of these wealthy individuals lead reclusive lives that stay out of the spotlight, as Forbes points out.
