Bomb threats at schools: Munich and Ingolstadt affected

Bomb threats have been received against several schools in Upper Bavaria, causing excitement in the region. In Munich, over 15 schools are affected, said a police spokeswoman. Similar threats were also reported in Ingolstadt, but no exact number of schools affected has yet been determined.

The good news is that the police do not believe there is any serious danger. The security measures were immediately increased, while school operations continued without restrictions in both Munich and Ingolstadt. The affected schools remain open and students and teachers can continue their everyday lives.

Germany-wide dimension

The threats appear to be part of a Germany-wide operation, as a spokesman for the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) explained. In addition to the cities mentioned, schools in Hanover, Erfurt and Leipzig are also affected. In Stuhr near Bremen, however, classes had to be canceled due to these threats. According to various police departments, all of the threats were sent via email on Sunday, posing an additional challenge for investigators.

The state criminal investigation offices of the affected federal states are now coordinating to clarify the background to the incidents and track down possible perpetrators. There is currently no information about the exact number of threats or the identity of those responsible.
