The exciting start took place in the fifth minute of the game when defender Branko Ojdanic scored the first goal for St. Johann. But the joy of the early lead was short-lived: in the same minute, Altach's Damian Maksimovic equalized with a precise shot.“In this campaign, the Altachers showed their individual class,”St. Johann's coach Andreas Scherer describes the rapid turnaround.
Intense game with quick twists
The course of the game was exciting throughout and offered moments full of thrills. Around the middle of the game, in the 59th minute, Florian Ellmer managed to reduce the deficit again to the delight of his team by increasing the score to 1:2. But the joy didn't last long: just four minutes later, Gjon Koci equalized and turned the game on its head again.
In the final minutes of the game, St. Johann pushed for victory. An Altacher own goal could only be prevented by the bar, and shortly afterwards Aboubacar Cisse had the chance to take the lead. Coach Scherer commented after the game:“The bottom line is that we can live well with this one point.”Understandable, because St. Johanner already have all the results in the English week: a defeat against Hohenems, a win against Schwaz and now this draw.
It was not without reason that the intense game was so fiercely contested. Scherer noted that the team performance from the previous game was noticeable and described the week as quite strenuous for his team.
The players Bytyqi, Djuric and Ojdanic were particularly outstanding,who made a significant contribution to winning points and motivated their teammates. With this strong performance, St. Johann remains optimistic for the coming games.
