Two Vorarlberg companies close their doors: bankruptcy shock in Bregenz!

The insolvency of two companies made headlines in Vorarlberg. “Alpine Value Management GmbH” and “Alpine Equity Management GmbH” got into financial difficulties on the same day. Both companies, which are based in Bregenz and run by the same managing directors, are facing significant financial challenges.

“Alpine Value Management GmbH”, founded in 2014, specialized in corporate value increases, financing and transactions. Their liabilities amount to around 860,000 euros, affecting two employees. The insolvency is attributed, among other things, to the effects of the corona pandemic and the associated restrictions, which hindered sustainable new business. Most recently, the company supported Turnkey Finance GmbH, which was also insolvent.

Details of the second insolvency company

“Alpine Equity Management GmbH” even has liabilities of around 1.2 million euros. Four employees are affected by the insolvency. This company acts as a management company and alternative investment fund manager (AIFM) and was, among other things, responsible for the administration and sales efforts of investment companies. A decisive factor that led to the insolvency was the decision of HYPO Vorarlberg Bank AG to prefer liquidation, which resulted in the loss of the business basis.

The recent bankruptcies are part of a worrying trend in Austria. According to CRIF, the number of bankruptcies is expected to rise to over 8,000 by the end of the year. This development is accompanied by a tense economic situation with high energy and wage costs as well as geopolitical tensions and political uncertainty. The forecasts for 2025 indicate a significant increase in bankruptcies, which could further exacerbate the situation for many companies. These circumstances compound the challenges that businesses in the region have faced.

Economic framework conditions in Austria

A decline in industrial production in the euro area is putting a considerable strain on domestic companies. Experts emphasize that the outlook remains bleak. A survey of 1,400 companies shows a worse business climate than during the corona pandemic. In addition, Creditreform predicts an increase in insolvencies of 2 percent.

The current bankruptcies of Vorarlberg companies illustrate the fragile economic conditions under which many companies in Austria have to suffer. Developments in the coming months will be crucial in dealing with ongoing economic pressures.
