ÖVP on the rise: local elections show surprising results!
The ÖVP suffered both successes and setbacks in the municipal elections in Vorarlberg. In Bregenz, the ÖVP candidate did not make it into the runoff, which party leader Wallner described as an unpleasant surprise at a press conference. Nevertheless, the ÖVP was able to secure an absolute majority in its home communities like Frastanz with an impressive 66.42 percent. Mayor Simon Tschann also triumphed in Bludenz, successfully defending his position, which Wallner praised as a sign of the ÖVP's largely error-free policies. However, the evaluation of the election results remains necessary in order to optimize future strategies, such as vorarlberg.ORF.at reported.
Five of the seven runoff elections give the ÖVP politicians a new chance. In Dornbirn, Julian Fässler from the ÖVP and Markus Fäßler from the SPÖ are competing in a decisive runoff election. In Feldkirch, too, the incumbent mayor Manfred Rädler is running against Andrea Kerbleder from the FPÖ. In Lustenau, voters will have to decide between Patrick Wiedl (ÖVP) and Martin Fitz (FPÖ), while in Lochau Stephan Schnetzer (ÖVP) will accept the challenge of Green Mayor Frank Matt. Götzis sees an exciting competition between ÖVP mayor Manfred Böhmwalder and Christoph Längle. These hot duels are important for the political landscape in Vorarlberg, especially on September 27th, when citizens will be called to the polls again vol.at holds on.
