Bicycle parade in Bludenz: Celebrations for climate protection and the winners
On Sunday, the ninth edition of the bicycle parade was celebrated in Bludenz as part of the “Vorarlberg Radelt” competition. The e5 communities of Bludenz, Nüziders and Bürs honored the cyclists who had diligently collected kilometers for the competition since March. This event attracted around 80 participants who not only got active, but also had the opportunity to win great prizes.
Thanks to the “Vorarlberg Radelt” app, the cyclists were able to track the routes they traveled and thus qualify for the raffle at this final event. The starting signal was given in Bürs, from where the group cycled to Bludenz before continuing to the autumn market in Nüziders, where the prize draw took place. On this occasion, a VVV climate ticket was raffled off among the participants. Thomas Pecoraro from Bludenz was the lucky winner of this award.
Prominent support and impressive results
The mayors of the participating communities did not miss the opportunity to take part in this celebratory bicycle parade together with the rickshaw drivers from the Bürs social center. Mayor Simon Tschann emphasized the importance of this event: "The bicycle parade is an opportunity for us as e5 communities to show how important climate-friendly mobility is. Every individual can make their contribution to climate protection." With this statement it became clear that not only winning was more important, but also the common goal of setting an example for sustainable transportation.
The results of the competition are impressive: the participants from Bludenz covered a total of over 125,748 kilometers. This led to a saving of more than 22 tons of CO2, which underlines the positive effect of the cyclists' commitment. Such an action shows how collective efforts can protect not only one's own fitness and health, but also the environment.
With the aim of improving the importance of sustainable means of transport, it remains to be seen how such initiatives can be continued in the future or possibly expanded to encourage even more people to use environmentally friendly means of transport.
