End of an era: The Handl Speckstube in the Zimbapark is closed
A striking chapter in the Zimbapark ends: The popular business, the Handl Speckstube, has closed its doors and leaves an empty sales area. This is particularly noteworthy, since the bacon room has been an integral part of the offer since the opening of the shopping center in 2002 and had many loyal customers for a long time.
The Handl Speckstube was placed on the ground floor of the Zimbapark, embedded between the Italian restaurant "Da Pino" and the men's fashion business "Jack & Jones". In a conversation, Walter Simma, the manager of the Zimbapark, announced that the closure did not come unexpectedly: "We have known for a long time that Handl is moving out," said Simma. The business was one of the last remaining branches of the Handl chain in Austria.
Who is behind the bacon room?
The Handl Speckstube was known for its traditional Tyrolean specialties and enjoyed great popularity, especially among regular customers. Simma explained that some interested parties are available for the free sales area, but has not yet been made. "The replacement is running, there are some interested parties," continued Simma. This indicates that the operators of the Zimbapark are already actively looking for new business opportunities in order to rent the occupied area again as soon as possible.
The bacon parlors experienced great popularity in the past, and the business model was continuously adapted by the Tyrolean company. Apart from the branch in the Zimbapark, there were also operating at other locations such as Bludenz, in the Messepark in Dornbirn as well as on the Arlberg and in Schruns, which are also no longer available. These developments show that the Handl baconics have come across as a total of creeping re -development.
The closure of the bacon room represents another setback for shopping in the region after the company has apparently reconsidered its strategy. The bankruptcy or restructuring of business often leads to a wave of aftermath, even if they are not always recognizable immediately. The Zimbapark must now head for a new era of its retail landscape.
The elimination of the Handl Speckstube may be a loss for local cuisine, but there are also new opportunities in the form of other retailers who could potentially fix the empty space. The response to this not insignificant change will be shown in the coming weeks.
As it goes on with the sales area, it remains to be seen. The press coverage indicates that the management of the Zimbapark is confident that it will soon be able to present a new tenant. Walter Simma has confirmed that there are some interesting inquiries for the area, and a new era for the Zimbapark could soon begin.
