WSG Tirol fights for third place with a 5:3 win against Klagenfurt!
On April 12, 2025, WSG Tirol celebrated a spectacular victory in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga by defeating SK Austria Klagenfurt 5-3 in the 25th matchday of the qualifying group. The home game for the Tyroleans took place on their familiar pitch with referee Ciochirca.
The game began with a contentious scene: In the 9th minute, Müller fell in the penalty area and the referee initially decided on a penalty. But the VAR intervened and the decision was reversed. This moment didn't seem to bother WSG Tirol, because just 22 minutes later Müller scored the first goal for his team from a corner.
Superiority in the first half
In the 24th minute, Skrbo had the chance to make it 2-0, but missed the empty goal. But just two minutes later the time had come: Skrbo benefited from a mistake by Klagenfurt player Gezos and extended the lead to 2-0. With a further increase in chances, the first half ended with a clear 2-0 for WSG Tirol; Butler, Blume and Skrbo provided additional excitement with further opportunities in the 37th, 41st and 44th minutes.
After the break, Diarra followed up in the 48th minute and increased the score to 3-0, which made the Tyroleans rejoice. However, Klagenfurt didn't give up and reduced the lead to 3-1 through Wernitznig in the 55th minute. However, this goal did not seem to throw the WSG off balance.
The scoring continues
WSG Tirol quickly restored the previous gap when Skrbo increased to 4-1 in the 58th minute after an assist from Butler. In the 69th minute, Naschberger even scored to make it 5-1, which further dampened Klagenfurt's hopes. But Klagenfurt didn't want to admit defeat and scored two late goals in the final minutes: Binder in the 89th minute and Wernitznig's free kick in the 90th + 3 minutes made the final score 5:3.
With this win, both teams now have 13 points in the qualifying group. WSG Tirol overtakes Klagenfurt and improves to third place in the table.
