Goldener Hirsch shines again: Johannes Gamerith takes over gastronomy!

A new chapter in the gastronomy in Gars is opened: Johannes Gamerith, an experienced restaurateur, takes over the “Golden Hirsch” after the restaurant was closed for over a year. The old traditional business, previously known as Galbruner, lay idle after Helmut Buhl's death. The revival of the restaurant was made possible through the committed efforts of an association led by Anni Rehatschek.

Gamerith brings with him a wealth of experience that he has gained in various catering establishments in Austria and Germany. His career began with an apprenticeship as a waiter, followed by places like Schladming and Reutte, where he always worked as a service manager. These experiences gave him excellent training in dealing with the catering business, which motivated him to join Gars. “I immediately had an understanding with the Scholda family,” says Gamerith, “that was important to me.”

Innovative culinary concepts

As the new operator of the “Goldener Hirschen”, Gamerith plans to offer both traditional Heurigen dishes and fine cuisine. The focus is on regional and seasonal ingredients, which is intended to give the offering a fresh touch. Structural changes are also being made to improve the atmosphere. The old boiler in the restaurant is replaced by a modern fireplace, which not only creates warmth but also an attractive center of attraction.

The opening is scheduled for Friday, November 8th at 4 p.m. The restaurant will then be open five days a week, excluding Wednesday and Thursday. The team consists of professionals who have already gained experience in the summer. The opening times are to be adjusted during the less visited months from January to March.

Community support

The return of the “Golden Stag” is supported by many quarters. Mayor Martin Falk is optimistic and emphasizes how important it is that traditional businesses are preserved in the community. “It’s great that this traditional Gars business is being continued,” he said, commenting on the developments. Anni Rehatschek, who played a key role in the revival, is also pleased with the successful process, but emphasizes that Gamerith is the “right person” for the job.

The hope is that the “Goldener Hirsch” will not only offer a culinary delight, but will also become a place for the community where people can meet, exchange ideas and enjoy local gastronomy. The look into the future is filled with excitement as Gamerith implements its concept and inserts the tradition of the “Golden Stag” into a new framework.
