A festival of the senses: book presentation children, art and culinary delights in Lienz
On November 8, a book presentation took place in the venerable Vienna Hofburg, which bears the title "Children, Art and Culinary King". The event was musically framed by Max Raabe, the iconic German singer. The anticipation for the project was great because it offered not only literary creations, but also culinary delights that were prepared by talented young people.
The book is the result of a creative project that Dr. Hermann Rogger from the School Association Puster Valley/Gemorative Promotion initiated. Here, Titellose pictures of the artist Rudolf Draheim, who lives in Berlin, were taken as inspiration. Ten to twelve-year-old students from Toblach, Sillian, Kufstein and from Nabeul in Tunisia wrote texts and poems as part of this project that address the central topic of "mindfulness". The inclusion of the international perspective gives the work additional weight.
unique menu design by top chefs
The book received special attention not only because of the texts, but also from the culinary component. Five excellent chefs from the region, including a hooded chef made from inner villus, cooked a vegan menu together with the students, which is documented in the book. In Sillian, pupils of the polytechnic school were involved in the preparation of the courts, which gave the project a practical component.
The result of this creative and culinary cooperation are selected images, poetic texts by the young authors as well as recipes from the top chefs, which together with QR codes were summarized into the songs by Max Raabe in the book. Such innovative projects show how education and culture can be interwoven in a sensible way.
After the presentation in the Hofburg, the book is also to be presented in other cities such as Bruneck, Kitzbühel and Nabeul. On December 13, 2024, it will also be presented in Tyrolia in Lienz, with pupils reading poems and presenting songs by Max Raabe, which should provide another highlight of the project.
"It is a wonderful book that appeals to all the senses. The young cooking: inside and author: Inside, Andreas Strasser, director of the Sillian middle school, is quoted. This project not only combines imaging art and gastronomy, but also ensures that the creative talents of young people are put into the spotlight.
