Alpbachtal Wildschönau is investing in future-oriented winter sports infrastructure
The Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau, known for its breathtaking 113 kilometers of slopes, is ready for the coming winter season. In a significant investment, the infrastructure will be modernized with an additional 4.5 million euros. The aim is not only to improve the conditions for winter sports enthusiasts, but also to increase the attractiveness of the entire area.
Around 1.5 million euros will go towards improving the snowmaking systems at Wiedersberger Horn and Reither Kogel. A large part of the financial resources will be invested in the purchase of 50 new tower snow guns. Not only are these devices more efficient, but they also require less energy. An impressive advantage because they increase the efficiency of the snowmaking systems by around 20 percent. This winter season, 25 of these innovative snow guns are already being put into operation, while the rest are expected to follow next year.
New highlight for families
Families in particular can look forward to an exciting new addition in winter 2024/25: the “KidsCross Alpbachtal”. At this location at the Mulden lift there will be an exciting piste for little skiers, which will feature steep curves and a snow tunnel. The mascot “Lauser” will support the children during their descent. An integrated “SpeedCheck” enables little adventurers to measure their own speed, while expanded training options are offered in the area of the Galtenberg lift and on the Reither Kogel to encourage young talent in skiing.
New technology center in Niederau
But it's not just the slopes that are being improved. A new technology center is being built in Niederau for around 2.5 million euros. This center will provide enough space to accommodate the entire fleet of piste machines and snow cannons at Markbachjoch. A total of six snow groomers and 58 snow cannons will be accommodated, which is essential for smooth maintenance and efficient winter operation.
These extensive investments are crucial for the long-term success of the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau and will further put the region on the map of winter sports destinations. The anticipation for the upcoming winter season is increasing, and it remains to be seen how these new developments will be received by winter sports enthusiasts.
