Odermatt fetches gold in the Super-G: Haaser shines with silver for Austria!
A dramatic day in skiing: The Swiss Marco Odermatt demonstrated its dominance with a shiny gold medal for the men at Super-G on February 7, 2025. He showed his skills and convinced both fans and experts with a strong journey. Raphael Haaser from Tyrol secured the silver medal for Austria and leads the ÖSV team to the first medal in this discipline. With this, Haaser expanded his impressive balance after he was already in second place at the comeback in Kitzbühel, as reported.
In an exciting competition, Norwegian Adrian Smiseth Sejsted rounded off the podium with the bronze medal. Raphael Haaser was modest after the race: "The upper part was appealing, then I drove too much in the area, but otherwise it was neat. Sometimes this medal also belongs to my sister." The Tyrolean already secured his second medal at the World Championships after getting bronze in the combination in Courchevel in 2023. Vincent Kriechmayr, who finished the second Austrian, missed the podium with just 0.05 seconds behind and landed in ungrateful fourth place. Despite his knee injury, which he had recently suffered, Kriechmayr did not want to hear excuses: "It is about the medals, the fourth place is not great. But I'm happy for Raphael," he said in an interview how 5min.at reported.
It is particularly noteworthy that the previous year's Kitzbühel winner James Crawford from Canada could not defend his title, which led to the list of defending champions from 1996 and 1997, Atle Skårdal, continued. Today it was a day full of ups and downs while the athletes are preparing for the upcoming challenges in the Ski World Cup.
