Cheers to Carinthian folk music: 27 awards for local talent
On November 16, 2024, the winners of three folk music competitions were celebrated in the Klagenfurt Concert Hall. State Governor Peter Kaiser and State Councilor Daniel Fellner presented certificates to the talented musicians from Carinthia who achieved impressive achievements in various competitions.
The award-winning competitions include the 14th Carinthian Folk Music Competition, which took place in Krastowitz Castle in February 2024, the 25th Alpine Folk Music Competition, which took place in Innsbruck in October 2024, and the 16th Alpine Harmonica Competition, which also took place in October 2024, this time in Salzburg.
Ceremonial award for the best music students
A total of 27 awards were achieved in these competitions. "I congratulate all award winners on their outstanding achievements. 27 awards show that Carinthia has taken a strong position on national and international stages," emphasized Kaiser. The governor also praised the role of parents in enabling their children to receive a high-quality musical education, as well as the excellent work of the music schools, which teach a total of 14,000 students in Carinthia.
Fellner echoed these words and emphasized the importance of young talent. “It's really special when young people make such great music,” he explained. Among the distinguished graduates were students from music schools in Althofen, Feldkirchen, Köttmannsdorf, Lavanttal, Lesachtal, Lieser-Maltatal, Möllbrücke and Nockberge as well as from the Gustav Mahler Music School Klagenfurt and the Gustav Mahler Private University of Music.
An evening full of musical performances
The event was moderated by Christian Kramser and offered a varied musical program. The “Fetzen Musi”, the harmonica soloist Lukas Kapeller and the “Glanschl Zwüllinge” performed, contributing to the festive atmosphere with their performances.
The honors in the concert hall are not only a recognition of the individual achievements of the young musicians, but also a sign of the high-quality musical education in Carinthia, which lays the foundation for future success.
