Old town paving: New paths in Innsbruck from spring 2025
In the old town of Innsbruck, the paving work for redesigning the footpaths on the home stretch are. The first stage of this extensive work will soon be completed. This measure had become essential after the extensive construction work in recent years to bring the streets back in an adequate state.
From summer 2020 to summer 2021, the old town was a large construction site area. During this time, numerous old lines were renewed, which converted the city into a huge construction site. The result was initially a little appealing mix of asphalt and old cobblestone pavement. In April of this year, the new paving work began with a high -quality material, the so -called “Luserna Gneis”, which comes from the mountains of Piedmont in Northwesternitals.
Details on the infrastructure under the pavement
In the first construction phase, the focus was on the northern area of Herzog-Friedrich-Straße and neighboring roads. The section extends from the corner of Riesengasse to the Golden Dachl to Ottoburg, as well as the Kiebachgasse to Café Munding and a part of the western Seilergasse from four-ceremony to the market ditch. These new paving work not only integrate an appealing surface structure, but also a modernized infrastructure that is intended for events. For example, umbrella stands for the guest gardens are installed under the new patch.
It is already clear that the second stage of the paving work will take place next year from March to October. The focus is on the southern area of Herzog-Friedrich-Straße including Schlossergasse, Hofgasse and Pfarrgasse. A total of around 7,500 square meters of paving area are planned in the old town.
The work is carried out under constant supervision of city representatives who regularly find out about the progress of the construction work. Mayor Johannes Anzengruber and city councilor Mariella Lutz met personally with the construction manager Thomas Lexer to discuss the developments.
This redesign of the old town is not only an important measure for the city's infrastructure, but also a step towards an appealing and functional public space design. Citizens and visitors can look forward to a newly designed old town that is both aesthetically appealing and functional.
