Cultural journey of discovery: Senior excursion to the fire brigade museum and winery

In the Graz-Umgebung region and Voitsberg, a successful senior excursion recently took place. Organized by the Social Democratic Teachers' Association (SLÖ), the trip led the participants to the fire brigade museum in Groß St. Florian and to a popular winery in the area.

The first stop was the fire brigade museum, where the current special exhibition entitled "Fire and Art" can be seen. During a tour, the participants received exciting insights into the history of the fire brigade and the latest technical developments in the profession. It was particularly clear how fire engineering has grown over the years and what challenges still exist today.

On the onward journey to the Buschenschank and Weingut Schneeberger, the former section fire inspector Ewald Raudner sen shared. His knowledge of the fire brigade in the Voitsberg district. He spoke about the different types of operations that have changed over time and explained the new challenges that the emergency services are facing today. The participants then enjoyed a delicious lunch in the Schneeberger Buschenschank and had the opportunity to welcome Bernadette Kerschler and the SLÖ regional chairman Marco Gratzer among those present.

The highlight of the excursion was the invitation of the senior manager of the Schneeberger winery for tasting. In a personal tour of the company, the participants were able to learn how the wine is produced. Among other things, the winery supplies large supermarkets such as Hofer and impressed with its offer.

The day was filled with informative conversations, interesting insights and an exchange among old colleagues. A very big thank you goes to the organizers Franz Sachernegg and Walter Krammer, who perfectly planned and carried out the entire event. All those present are already looking forward to the next excursion, which will take place in spring 2025.
