Entrup and LASK: A comeback in style in Salzburg

The LASK once again proves its ability to shine even in tricky situations. The team recently celebrated a thrilling victory in Salzburg, which summer newcomer Innentrup secured with his fifth goal of the season. He scored four of these goals in the final minutes, which marks the Linz team as true comeback specialists. Under the leadership of head coach Markus Schopp, the team has already won eleven points after falling behind. In the last five Bundesliga games, LASK was always challenged after falling behind, but managed to record three wins and one draw. A total of seven goals in the last quarter of an hour of the games are an impressive testament to these comeback qualities.

“We took advantage of our chances today, something we had been missing over the course of the season,” said defense chief Philipp Ziereis after the game in Salzburg. Despite the victory, everyone involved agreed that the performance did not live up to what they had set as their goal. “It wasn’t the LASK we wanted to show,” analyzed goalscorer Entrup. The plan was often not implemented well, especially in the transition game, where the crucial balls were not played consistently.

Game performance analysis

Head coach Markus Schopp tried to separate the result from the performance. “It was very positive that we believed we could take something with us until the last second,” he said. Nevertheless, he complained about many weaknesses in the game, both defensively and in the ball possession phase. However, the points average of just under 1.9 after nine games speaks for the success that the team has achieved under his leadership, with five wins and two draws during this time.

A notable success factor for the team is the offensive set pieces. After a free kick from Florian Flecker, Hrvoje Smolcic scored the goal with a header that finally ignited the fans' joy. These strengths have catapulted LASK into the top six of the Bundesliga.

The next challenge is already ahead. On Thursday the Upper Austrians travel to FK Borac Banja Luka to collect more points in the UEFA Conference League. Just three days later, the home game against Wiener Austria will be played in the Raiffeisen Arena as part of the big family game day. LASK is still looking for success and the fans can look forward to exciting games.
