Doctors' legend withdraws: Josef Lamprecht enjoys retirement
October 1 was a turning point for Josef Bernd Lamprecht: after 32 years as a practical doctor in Radmer, he retired. For the 65-year-old doctor, known for his loving nature and his connection to nature, this step was by no means easy. The new phase of life is mainly spent in Southeast Styria, the home of his wife Annemarie.
Although Lamprecht is missing the mountains and the cool air of their homeland, he plans to tackle the new challenges with a positive spirit. "We also look at a few hills in the south," he emphasizes, and follows the plan to return to his Nordic roots every now and then. "If the longing for the mountains gets too big, I'll just go there," he adds with a smile. This shows how important his origin remains, even if he wants to settle in warmer realms.
a new beginning for the community
Lamprecht explains that the work as a doctor has always fulfilled him. The relationships that he was able to build on both patients and people in the region are very important to him. This deep connection to the community played an important role during his long career and will certainly remain alive in the conversations with his former patients who continue to visit him.The decision to put down his profession follows a trend in the region that also affects other doctors who retire or align themselves differently. This change is countered with various initiatives to maintain medical care in Radmer and the surrounding areas. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop in the coming months.
Although Lamprecht can now look forward to relaxation and sees this time as a kind of reward for strenuous years, it is not sure how the feeling of emptiness will often feel that arises after a phase of life. He will enjoy the calm and calming, which brings with it to bear less responsibility and at the same time keep the mountain spirit in his heart.
The stories and experiences he could gain as a doctor will probably remain a constant companion in this new chapter of his life. His contribution to the community in Radmer has left traces that are not easy to reproduce. Fans of Lamprecht can be sure that it will not be the last time that they hear from him, even if the practice is now closed.
