New master brewer Michael Hehenberger takes over in Schladming

There is a change at the top at the Schladming brewery: Michael Hehenberger has taken over the reins as the new master brewer and succeeds Christian Stocker. The official handover took place in a ceremonial setting surrounded by employees. Hehenberger, who already studied food technology at the HTL, brings with him sound training and extensive experience.

Hehenberger started his professional career with an apprenticeship at the Hofstetten brewery, which he successfully completed in 2014. He then gained practical experience as a journeyman. In 2018 he acquired his specialist knowledge at the Doemens Academy for Brewing and Beverages and then worked at the Engelszell Trappist Brewery for over six years, supplemented by a short stay at the Grieskirchen Brewery. There he learned about all facets of a brewing business—from logistics to production.

The new master brewer and his predecessor

"I'm looking forward to the challenging task and to my team, which is enthusiastically behind the Schladminger beer. A big thank you to Christian Stocker for the dedicated support during the training," explained Hehenberger during the handover of the keys.

His predecessor, Christian Stocker, who worked as master brewer for two years, also praised the work of his team and the high quality of the Schladming beer. "We put all our heart and soul into the brewery. Thanks to the investments in additional fermentation tanks, my successor can better meet the increasing demand for Schladminger beer," said Stocker.

Although Stocker is leaving the brewery, he remains loyal to the company. He will work within Brau Union Austria as quality manager for the Puntigam and Göss breweries. This not only shows his connection, but also the importance of his expertise for the group.

The change at the Schladming brewery offers promising prospects for both the brewery and for fans of the popular Schladming beer. With a breath of fresh air in the brewing kettle, beer lovers can look forward to new creations and innovative approaches that Hehenberger brings to his new role.
