Vienna Pride changed program: solidarity with victims from Graz
Graz, Österreich - On June 11, 2025, the Vienna Pride changed its program as a sign of solidarity and commemoration of the victims of a tragic killing spree in Graz. A total of ten people were killed two days ago in this incident, which occurred in a school, including six girls and three boys between the ages of 14 and 17 and a seriously injured teacher who died in the hospital. The perpetrator, a 21-year-old Austrian, commits suicide after the killing spree. The authorities found a shotgun and a fist firearm at the scene.
In response to these events, Vienna Pride, whose organizers represented the LGBTQ+community, has decided to make the event kick-off on June 12th without music. Instead of a festive atmosphere with DJ sets, the Pride Village becomes a quiet and dignified place where flowers are laid down and mourning speeches. In particular, the Hosi Vienna expressed sympathy with those affected and their relatives.
