In an exciting basketball game, SKN St. Pölten lost 74:80 to the Graz 99ers, although they started strongly in the first half and led 7:0 in the fourth minute. Thanks to an impressive three-point rate of 5/8, the hosts managed to gain a lead of ten points (24:14) by the ninth minute. Ekamba proved to be an outstanding player by successfully sinking his first five shots. Despite the strong start, the players from St. Pölten were unable to maintain their lead and ultimately lost NOEN reported.
Graz, on the other hand, emerged as the political favorite in the most recent election. The SPÖ surprisingly won 21.7 percent of all votes in Graz and is therefore in first place Small newspaper reported. What is particularly noteworthy is that this result came in the Styrian capital, despite the SPÖ's nationwide defeat. The ÖVP follows in second place with 21.3 percent, only 563 votes separate the two. The FPÖ recorded gains, reaching 19.9 percent, while the Greens and the KPÖ fell behind in the elections. The Neos were able to increase their vote to 12.1 percent and the KPÖ remained below expectations regarding the basic mandate at just six percent.
Political shifts in Graz
The election results in Graz show a clear shift in the political landscape. While the SPÖ celebrates its result, ÖVP leader Kurt Hohensinner sees his party still in the competition for first place, despite a drop of 7.1 points. The biggest loss compared to previous elections was for the Greens, who fell from 27 percent in 2019 to just 15.5 percent. Historical electoral movements in Graz thus come to the fore and show how locally oriented elections can produce different results than at the federal government level.
