Rachbauer sisters: Linz Witches conquer the softball throne!
The Rachbauer sisters from Linz, Lisa, Stefanie and Paula, have once again caused a sensation in the Austrian softball sport. With their team, the Linz Witches, they not only honed their individual skills, but also achieved great success together in the mixed slowpitch segment of the sport. At the recent Sport Austria Finals in Graz, the combination of Witches and Linz Bandits triumphed and reclaimed the mixed slowpitch championship title after winning all seven games.
The Witches and Bandits put in an impressive performance over three days, winning all 23 games played in the unsettled weather. Second place went to the Kutro Crazy Geese, who lost to Linz in the final. The Traiskirchen Grasshoppers came third. The other placings were as follows: The Rubberducks from Wiener Neustadt took fourth place with 4 wins, followed by Pöstlingberg Ghetto Style with 3 wins in fifth, while the Stockerau Racoons and the Dirty Sox Graz took the lower places.
Talented sisters in action
The sisters began their softball careers at age 14, inspired by their junior leader. They impressed not only with their skill, but also with their team spirit. Paula, who is eight years younger than Lisa and Stefanie, quickly caught up and now plays actively on her sisters' team. They can often be seen on the field at the same time, highlighting their versatility. Meanwhile, her mother takes care of the food and actively supports her at the games.
The sisters are not only active in slowpitch softball, but are also part of the ABF national team and have won the Austrian championship title in the past. It is precisely this passion that drives them to move into the playoffs of the Softball Bundesliga again in 2025. Their Chilean origins are reflected not only in their cheers in Spanish, but also in their playing style, which is characterized by enthusiasm and team spirit.
In addition to her sporting activities, Paula Rachbauer started a DJ career at Cultur Cafe Smaragd, a bar run by her father. These versatile talents and their successes in softball make the Rachbauer sisters an impressive family in Austrian sports.
