GrECo Bancassurance in Styria: Martin Lang takes over management!
On April 1, 2025, GrECo Bancassurance carried out a personnel realignment in Styria. Martin Lang will be the new regional manager for the bancassurance division in the region, taking over responsibility from Robert Pitschko, who has held the position of Head of Bancassurance Austria since the beginning of the year. Pitschko has been working as regional manager in Styria since 2019 and will direct fortunes at the national level.
Lang will take up his new role at the beginning of the second quarter of 2025 and will manage the office in Graz with a team of 16 employees. Lang has been active in the insurance industry since 2007 and graduated as an academic insurance clerk in 2011. Before his new role, he worked at GRAWE, where he held various positions including sales organizer and area manager in Graz.
Professional experience and successes
Robert Pitschko is positive about the change and emphasizes Lang's extensive experience and strong network in Styria. The Styrian branch of GrECo Bancassurance currently serves around 300 clients, including large industrial companies and public corporations. This expertise and networking will be of central importance for the further development of the branch.
The realignment is no coincidence. GrECo Bancassurance has recently significantly expanded its services by merging with VMG Versicherungsmakler GmbH in 2024. The company is thus positioning itself as an important player in the area of risk and insurance management in Austria and beyond. GrECo, an owner-managed company, now has 69 branches and employs around 1,300 people in 21 countries, over 400 of whom work in Austria.
Industry context in Austria
In the context of the Austrian insurance landscape, the sector shows stable growth. According to current statistics, the gross value added of financial and insurance services in Austria was around 14.36 billion euros in 2020, which accounts for around 4 percent of the total gross value added. Insurance penetration was 4.5 percent, while insurance density was 2,002 euros per inhabitant per year.
The insurance industry includes 44 companies and employs around 27,000 people. In 2019, the industry's sales amounted to 20.17 billion euros, and the premium volumes reached 18.04 billion euros. Life insurance accounts for the largest share of the premium volume at 29.9 percent. The ten largest insurance companies on the market covered premiums totaling 23.5 billion euros in 2019, dominated by the Vienna Insurance Group with 9.32 billion euros.
The acquisition of Martin Lang as Regional Manager could therefore be groundbreaking not only for GrECo Bancassurance, but also for the entire sector in Styria, as the company further consolidates its position in a thriving market.
