Bad Traunstein illuminated: Largest Advent wreath set up in the Waldviertel!
Just in time for the opening of the Advent market, thick snowflakes enveloped Bad Traunstein in an enchanting winter landscape. For the 31st time, the largest free-hanging Advent wreath in the Waldviertel was set up in the center of the town. With an impressive 400 linear meters of garlands tied by the residents, the twelve meter high wreath attracts attention. The church choir accompanied the ceremonial opening with atmospheric songs, while over 40 exhibitors presented Christmas Waldviertel creations, such as My district reported.
During these festive days, visitors can expect a variety of handmade gifts and culinary delights. Mayor Roland Zimmer and Deputy Mayor Wolfgang Kornberger expressly thank all those who helped with the organization. A special highlight will be Santa Claus, who is expected on December 8th in the Advent village, which will remain open to everyone until then.
Gas station anniversary: 100 years of fuel history
Regardless of the festive celebrations, Austria's first gas station is celebrating an important anniversary. 100 years ago, in 1924, the first public petrol pump was opened on Graz's Jakominiplatz. This pioneering achievement aroused enormous interest: At the time, handling was considered simple and safe. Karl Löffler and Heinrich Haas, the operators, pioneered a comprehensive supply of fuel to motorists, such as Courier reported.
The gas station in Graz ushered in a new era in which the demand for gasoline skyrocketed and many more gas stations quickly opened throughout Austria. The first gas station in Vienna followed a little later. With the growth of gas stations, there were lively debates about gasoline prices in the early years, after the price per liter skyrocketed in the 1930s. What began as an innovation back then is now an indispensable infrastructure for vehicle users.
