Protest in Bruck: Citizens are calling for return to the 24-hour outpatient clinic!

in Bruck an der Mur has taken place a significant protest of around 700 people, organized by the mayor Andrea Winkelmeier. The SPÖ politician calls for the restoration of the 24-hour acutamy clinic, which has been reduced due to a structural change. From Monday there will only be one order ambulance in Bruck until 3 p.m., which could be problematic, especially for older people in the nightly emergency, as the concerned mayor explained. According to the medical director of LKH Hochsteiermark, Erich Schaflinger, there is no longer a back: "The decision was made together by all parties" and the structural change is already underway, as well as bruck-mur.gv.at reports .

health care in danger

Stefan Hofer, the mayor of Turnau, supports his colleague and emphasizes that the decision is an attack on around 100,000 people in the Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district. This restructuring is not only a profound cut in medical care, but also signals a nationwide challenge in the health system. The SPÖ demands clear answers and responsibility after it was previously part of the state government. Max Lercher, the new SPÖ boss, expressed sharp criticism of the lack of consultation about these decisive changes.

The demonstration was not only focused on health care, but also on the safety of the citizens. However, the concerns of the residents about their medical care could not be ignored. In the past centuries there had been repeated fires in Bruck on the Mur, which increased human suffering, and this new development in health care arouses old fears that are deeply inscribed in the memory of the city and its inhabitants, as historical records show. Historical fire damage from the Middle Ages illustrate how vulnerable the city was in crisis times.
