Safety Warning: These woom bikes may have problems!

An urgent warning for all woom bike owners: The renowned Austrian manufacturer has issued a voluntary safety notice for specific models of its mountain bikes. Affected are the woom OFF and woom OFF AIR in sizes 5 and 6 as well as the woom ORIGINAL in size 6, which were produced between 2016 and 2020. According to currently available information, fatigue failure of the cranks could occur under heavy use. The company considers the risk to be very low, but woom strongly recommends replacing the affected parts. As reported in the VOL.AT article, customers can check whether their bike is affected by carrying out an online crank check.

Free replacement for affected models

Customers whose bikes fall into the affected category can have the cranks replaced free of charge at a woom dealer. It is emphasized that the costs of replacement are covered even in workshops outside the woom network. The steps to carry out the exchange are very simple: After the online check, the new cranks can be ordered directly and installed at a nearby dealer. Woom's information notes that not all models are affected. Excluded from the safety notice are, among other things, all woom ORIGINAL in sizes 1-5 and models from 2021.

“The safety of our bikes is our top priority,” explains Bernd Hake, CEO of woom. “Our aim is to offer our customers a high-quality product that will enable children to drive safely and carefree for many years to come.” This voluntary safety notice is an expression of woom's responsibility towards its customers and their safety.
