Serious accident in Sittendorf: E-car explodes in flames!

Sittendorf, Österreich - On July 15, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred in Sittendorf, Lower Austria. The exact cause of the accident is currently still unclear. The driver lost control of her vehicle, crashed into a tree frontally and then caught fire. The incident caused an extensive alarm of the emergency services.

The driver was able to free herself from the burning vehicle and also helped her passenger. In addition, two other occupants that were located in the back seat were saved by first aiders. A total of four people were injured, some of them seriously difficult, and urgently needed medical help. Gerald Fischer, a 55-year-old entrepreneur, was nearby and immediately provided first aid.

use of the rescue workers

The rescue control center in Lower Austria alerted a large contingent of rescue workers, including several emergency doctors and two ÖAMTC emergency helicopters. In addition, emergency medical vehicles from the Red Cross from Mödling and Schwechat as well as ambulances from the Samaritan Association Gaaden and the Red Cross Mödling were used.

The fire brigades from Sittendorf, Gaaden, Sulz and Sparbach were also alerted to rescue and fire fighting. Thanks to these coordinated emergency services, the injured could be quickly taken care of and were transported to surrounding hospitals or flown. The fire brigade had to concentrate on fire fighting, since no other people were at risk after the rescue of all occupants.

Special fire fighting in electric cars

The fire brigade quickly brought the fire of the electric car under control. In order to rule out further dangers, the burned -out vehicle was lifted into a trough filled with water using a crane. This procedure is particularly important because fires of electric cars are different challenges due to heat -resistant batteries.

As a current statistics show, electric cars do not burn more often than conventional vehicles. The most common causes of fire are problems with the battery, mechanical damage or external influences such as vandalism. Firefighters need special techniques to effectively delete burning batteries, often through long -lasting cooling with water or using special extinguishing containers. These challenges illustrate how important the training and preparation of the fire brigade is for accidents with electric cars. The GDV indicates that the fire brigades and emergency services have to be increasingly prepared for the special conditions in electric vehicle fires.

The incident in Sittendorf not only emphasizes the challenges associated with the use of electric vehicles, but also illustrates the important role of the rescue workers in the fast and effective response to such emergencies.
