ÖSV women fight for every meter in the giant slalom at Semmering!

The ÖSV women got off to a difficult start in the current giant slalom at Semmering. The best performance of the Austrian riders came from Ricarda Haaser, who finished twelfth, 1.68 seconds behind Small newspaper reported. Julia Scheib, who is fighting her way back after health problems during the season, followed close behind in 13th place, 1.70 seconds behind. According to Scheib, her clear goal for the second run is to achieve the best time, which gives the 26-year-old particular motivation after her podium finish at the season opener in Sölden.

The leadership team

At the front of the field there was a duel between the strong competitors Federica Brignone, Lara Gut-Behrami and Sara Hector. After the first round, Brignone is 15 hundredths ahead of Gut-Behrami and 24 hundredths ahead of Hector, who have each celebrated important successes in the season. While the best places seem out of reach for the ÖSV women, Katharina Liensberger was eliminated from the competition due to missing the second round and Stephanie Brunner, who fell behind in the final section. The second round of the race is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., as SALZBURG24 reports.

The absence of star skiers like Mikaela Shiffrin and Petra Vlhova has made it even more difficult for the Austrian skiers to catch up. All that remains is to hope that they can escape their chasing position in the second round and still be at the front. The competition at Semmering remains tense and relentless - the pressure on the athletes is increasing!
