Wels Christmas World: 40 days full of light, art and festive joy

Things will soon be festive in Wels! The Wels Christmas World opens on November 15th and promises a spectacular experience for everyone who wants to enjoy the Advent season. The event has been attracting numerous visitors for 16 years and is one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Upper Austria.

Mayor Andreas Rabl (FPÖ) is certain: “The Wels Christmas world is one of the most beautiful in all of Upper Austria.” From opening day, the entire city center will be transformed into a glowing winter wonderland that will bring joy and a festive atmosphere until December 24th. The mountain Christmas on the town square, the winter magic in Pollheimerpark and Advent in the Gösser beer garden open their doors every day from 11 a.m.

Lighting and crafts

A special highlight is the decorative lighting, which makes the Christmas world shine with over 750,000 LED lights. The light trail, which stretches over 1.7 kilometers, offers exciting stories and new stations for visitors. The organization promises a varied children's program as well as an offer of culinary delicacies.

Visitors can look forward to more than 40 stalls offering a wide range of crafts and Christmas treats. To ensure variety, these stands are changed weekly. The Christ child will take up residence in the Lederer Tower, where the little guests can discover the “heavenly cloud kingdom”.

Diverse program

Entertainment is well provided: daily carriage rides on Sundays, pony rides and children's rides offer fun for the whole family. A special opening will take place on the first day at 5 p.m. on the Almdorf stage, while other highlights such as a visit from Santa Claus and a Perchten run are on the program.
