Local heroines: Wels HAK team triumphs with concept for gender equality

The competitive landscape in the field of entrepreneurship reached an exciting climax when a talented team from the Handelsakademie Wels (HAK) impressed the national championships at EuroSkills with a strong message about gender equality in technical professions. Lena Atzlesberger and Leonie Tescher, both students from the 4th IWK class, convinced the jury with their innovative business idea and sent a strong signal for women in technology.

In a competition that included numerous teams from various educational institutions, Lena and Leonie triumphed over competitors from HAK Freistadt and HTL Braunau. Their concept, which was presented in English, specifically focused on breaking down barriers for women in technical professions. This successful presentation was not only a demonstration of her entrepreneurial talent, but also an important step towards promoting gender equality in an often male-dominated field.

Advancement to the Austrian Skills

Due to their success, the two students have decided to represent Upper Austria at the upcoming Austrian Skills in Vienna. This is a significant opportunity for the team, which could potentially prove to be a stepping stone to the EuroSkills in Denmark. If their idea and implementation plan also find favor with Austrian Skills, this could pave the way for an even bigger stage.

The EuroSkills national championships in the entrepreneurship category not only promoted talent, but also created awareness of the need to promote gender equality in technical professions. Lena and Leonie's success shows how important it is to give young women the opportunity to realize their ideas and gain a foothold in the business world. Such a commitment to equality in fields traditionally considered male-dominated leads to a more positive and inclusive professional life for all genders.

The school management and their classmates are enthusiastic about the performance of the two students and are eagerly awaiting the next steps in Vienna. Whether Lena and Leonie will ultimately receive the opportunity to compete at EuroSkills in Denmark remains to be seen, but their achievement is already a heartwarming example of the potential of young women in entrepreneurship.
