Fatal truck accident in Haid: 81-year-olds under tires of a tractor

A tragic incident occurred on November 22nd shortly before noon in Haid. A 54-year-old man from the Rohrbach district steered his truck on Wiener Strasse towards A1 motorway entrance. At the same time, an 81-year-old woman from Linz-Land wanted to cross the street, which was located at the intersection at Ritzlhofstrasse.

Although the truck driver reduced his speed, he did not stop at the clearly visible “stop” table. While the older lady crossed the street, she noticed that the truck did not stop. In a desperate attempt to avoid the approaching vehicle, however, it could no longer avoid the truck in time. The driver overlooked the pensioner and rolled over with his entire semitrailer, which led to fatal injuries. Unfortunately the 81-year-old died at the scene of the accident.

After the terrible incident, the truck driver continued his journey towards the highway without noticing the accident. However, a police patrol was later able to stop him in trouble.
