Union St. Martin celebrates late victory - hope for a turning point in the relegation battle
The Union St. Martin celebrated a long -awaited victory in the 1st grade northwest on Sunday. After a difficult start to the season with just three points from the first five games, the team achieved the second victory against Sigharting/Andorf 1b. Player coach Rene Huber was responsible for the interim compensation with an impressive free kick.
The game did not start optimally for the St. Martiner, because Benedikt Großbötzl brought the guests in the lead in the 1st minute. Despite a dismissal for Richard Lukacs from Sigharting/Andorf in the 24th minute, the home side needed up to the 75th minute to achieve the balance. The spectators who had already resigned themselves to a draw were surprised in the last minute of the game when Anel Omerovic scored the winning goal for 2-1.
gate as a turning point
Rene Huber, who acted both as a trainer and scorer, described the challenges of the game. "It was difficult from both teams to play good football because the lawn was really mushy. Before the dismissal, we both had good opportunities, but afterwards we were more dominant in possession of the ball," said Huber. His free kick was a turning point for the team that gave them the necessary self -confidence to win the victory. "It was a tough fight for victory, but in the end we deservedly won," he summarized.
The joy of victory, however, remains steamed because the club looks back on a bumpy start of the season. With just six points from six games, the gap to the top teams can be felt in the table. "The balance is disappointing for a district league relegation," said Huber. The 35-year-old coach, who was previously active in the German Region League, seems to be facing a demanding coaching career because he forms a new coaching duo together with Konstantin Tulubinski.
