Common forces strengthen Münzbacher parish: renovation of the bell chair planned
Münzbach. In the small municipality of Münzbach, the cohesion is visible and strong, especially when it comes to maintaining the parish church. After the cemetery wall was successfully renovated and the staircase in the church tower could also be renewed, there are now other significant renovation work that focuses on the bell chair.
Last year, impressive 54 volunteers over 1,450 hours on 31 days were committed to renovating the old cemetery wall, which extends over 190 meters. The support of the municipality and the generous meals by the Münzbach families contributed significantly to success. "With combined forces we have already largely completed the cemetery wall," reports a committed member of the project.
renovation of the stairs to the church tower
Another chapter of success is the conversion of the staircase in the church tower. The old wooden staircase was so badly damaged that it no longer granted safe access. The new staircase, which is now made of robust larch wood, consists of six pedestals and six staircases. The revision also created a central freedom that facilitates material transport. These comprehensive work on the masonry and the lighting were successfully completed in early October. "A big thank you goes to all helpers who have worked about 690 voluntary hours," says Christian Strach, chairman of the team of finances in the parish council in Münzbach.
But the efforts in Münzbach are far from over, because the bell chair must now also be renovated. This necessity has been discussed in the community for more than ten years. The parish council has now made a decision for the renovation. An expert opinion of a structural engineer describes the current state of the bell chair as a "patchwork" due to several conversion and reinforcement phases over the years.
challenges in bell chair renovation
According to Christian Strach, there are also structural concerns: "Another problem is the support of the existing construction. The bell chair transmits the vibrations of the bells due to a structural connection to the stone masonry into the outer walls of the tower." In the long run, this could lead to serious structural damage. Therefore, the upcoming renovation is of the highest priority.
The initiatives in Münzbach are both a sign of the strong sense of community and the commitment of the residents to preserve their traditions and cultural values. The plans for the renovation of the bell chair are pursued with high pressure, while the community continues to work on its historical buildings and find new ways to maintain and protect local culture.
