The magic of the Langensteiner Schiachperchten: tradition lives on!
Langenstein. The cold season has started, and with it the "Laungastoana Schiachperchten" from Langenstein come on the stages. With its appearances, this group of perch not only brings tradition, but also creates a eerily beautiful atmosphere. The eerie figures that come from the centuries -old customs still fascinate numerous people and have an almost magical attraction that captivates young and old.
The "Laungastoana Schiachperchten", a dynamic group, was founded in 2008 by Gerhard Klinger. With only twelve members at that time, the number has increased to 61 since then. Of these are 46 male and 15 female. "For us, it is not only a question of customs, but also a wonderful way to live out our hobby with friends," explains club member Katharina Lindner. It emphasizes that the mix of community and customs care is special about the group.
insights into the activities of the group
The Perchten Association has already planned many exciting appearances. The first big appearance of the 2024/2025 season takes place in the blind market, followed by its own big perch meeting. A highlight of the season will be the annual show run on the Krampus day, where Santa Claus is also expected to give the children a surprise. "We look forward to inspiring people and keeping the old customs alive," says Lindner with a smile.
The respectful handling of anxious spectators, especially children, is particularly emphasized. "As a child -friendly Perchtenverein, we have fixed rules for dealing with frightened people. Our goal is to convey joy and not afraid," continues Lindner.
The masks used for the appearances are an important part of the tradition. Almost all of them come from the Tyrolean Schnitzer Tom Einwaller and are hand -carved and covered with leather. This gives the masks a particularly realistic appearance. Depending on the version, you can weigh between five and ten kilograms. "The field of vision and hearing are severely restricted among the masks, so it is important for the viewers to keep a distance," explains Lindner.
In particular, customs care is very important to the group, since many do not understand the perch and its story properly. "We want to keep the tradition alive and bring people closer. The misunderstandings around Percht are often great, which is why we want to do educational work," she emphasizes.
If you want to book the Schiachperchten for private celebrations, you can contact the association via social media or by email. "We are happy to be available for appearances at company celebrations or Christmas markets," says Lindner and concludes with a reference to the e-mail address laungastoana@gmail.com to facilitate inquiries.
